Last week, the Upper School Kinetics Sculpture club took to the city along with club adviser, US principal Mr McManus and Makerspace Program Coordinator, Mr Antonio-Barnes visited local fabricator Tim Scofield at his downtown studio. There the club shared plans for the welding stage of this years entry into the AVAM Kinetic Sculpture Race. Club members Chase and Carter were on had to deliver the two bicycles and discuss the latest iteration of the clubs build. Future tips will be needed as the build takes shape and adjustments are made to the design.

Is a sculptor from Northern Illinois who graduated from Syracuse University’s College of Visual & Performing Arts with an MFA. From 2000 – 2008 he was on staff at Maryland Institute College of Art running the metal shop & casting foundry. From 2009 until early 2015, Tim was the lead fabricator at a small residential & commercial metal shop that produces light structural and miscellaneous metal work. During this period Tim along with Mara Neimanis, co-founded & performed in the Baltimore Alley Aerial Festival, which ran for three years. He has exhibited sculpture in Baltimore’s Artscape, Chicago’s Pier Walk, Sarasota Florida’s Bayfront.
Currently, Tim is the owner & operator of Tim Scofield Studios that produces aerial performance apparatus, custom designed furniture, props for video production and sculpture.
