Lower School

The Lower School Makerspace is an extension of all our classrooms, allowing students to design, create, and produce using the design thinking process. The makerspace is a partnership between teachers and students which encourages all parties to rethink pedagogy:  how can we apply creative, design-centered processes to further extend learning? The makerspace provides opportunities for integration of various skills, for differentiation to best fit individual learning styles, and a broader lens for students to “show what they know.” In addition to specific curricular extensions, the makerspace is a place where students have voice and choice in their learning, tapping into student passions to “thinker” (thinking + tinkering) using the Genius Time model of exploration.
